NOSTALGIA FC: The Pouchain x Roma 1979-80 kit

In 1978 (when current Roma boss José Mourinho was just fifteen years-old), A.S. Roma club president Gaetano Anzalone made a deal with domestic sportswear brand Pouchain, and the following season, I Giallorossi traded in their Adidas kits for one of the most iconic football shirts of all time.

Worn by the likes of Romeo Benetti, Carlo Ancelotti and Bruno Conti, it featured a plunging v-neck and a colourway comprised of red bands that gradually transitioned to orange on the epaulettes. The shirt, which quickly earned the nickname, “popsicle jersey”, was almost as stylish as their brand of football.
